The new EveryTrail.com

September 30th, 2007 · No Comments

Th folks over at www.EveryTrail.com  have launched a completely new and improved version of their already very cool site.

The features I most liked, the ability to embed my trail in my own blog or attach photos to a trail, for example haven’t changed but the browsing and community experience is much improved.  Initially, I was concerned that a sister website globalmotion.com was going to take away from the development of Everytrail.com but as Everytrail’s blog states:

EveryTrail and GlobalMotion go hand in hand: EveryTrail is meant to share your personal trips, while GlobalMotion is meant for general, “objective” descriptions of locations, routes and areas, that will enable people to learn about the world and all its cool places.

According to the EveryTrail folks improvements include:

Nicer trip pages, with larger photos and a smoother interface. There is also more useful information on the pages (trip stats, elevation profile, geographic location). Please give your thumbs up to trips you like (based on votes we’ll bubble up the good content to the top of lists on the browse pages).

Search and browse! Finally you can easily find cool trips by other EveryTrail members. Click on Browse Trips and use the links to refine by location and activity, or use the World Map to browse trips based on location.

A more intuitive process to create trips.
You can combine your GPS data and photos in a 4 easy steps. Geotagging your photos is now much easier, either automatically based on time stamps in GPS data and photos, or by pointing and clicking on the map.

Nicer personal profile pages.
If you haven’t uploaded a personal picture yet, you can do so now. Log in, click on “my profile”, and click edit photo. You can also write a short intro about yourself in order for other members to get to know you.
I’ve loaded several trips to Everytrail, I’ve also listed them on my map page.
